chinese medicine & acupuncture

what to expect on your first visit

Your appointment will begin with a check in regarding your overall health and well being. This may include your physical, mental, emotional or spiritual health and how this relates to what you would like to address with treatments.
We can address a wide range of health concerns and I am more than happy to work alongside other medical practitioners to help you achieve your optimal state of health.

A Chinese medicine practitioner is taught to rely on keen observational skills including observing the face and tongue and listening to the qualities of the pulses. We then come up with a chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment plan. A diagnosis is formed using the language and paradigm of chinese medicine. For example, we might see signs of heat, dampness, wind, or cold, and we will generally discover organ relationships such as Liver and Spleen, Heart and Kidney, etc.

Techniques which are used within a chinese medicine appointment will depend on what is appropriate for you at the time. They include acupuncture, chinese herbal medicine, massage, electro-acupuncture, cupping, scraping, and moxibustion.
